The Oyo State government is set to employ twelve thousand unemployed residents of the state through skilled, semi skilled and unskilled through the on going rehabilitation at Awotan dump site.
The contractor handling the project, Mr Idowu Salawu disclosed this while speaking with journalists at the site.
Mr Salawu whose company Macpresse West Africa Ltd, a waste management and recycling facility is handling the project described Governor Seyi Makinde as purpose-driven Governor whose developmental dream for Oyo State needs to be supported said the project has a lot of extra goodies for the people of Oyo State.
The contractor who showed journalists at the site round the on-going work said when completed the projects would have make positive economic impacts on the people of the state.
He stated that the state government has also engaged the service of four hundred PSP with drivers, assistant drivers and four packers each that will assist in collection of the refuse which in turn will translate to job employment for the people.
The contractor also confirmed that the site since the commencement of the rehabilitation has provided jobs for over one hundred people in Awotan area as well as the scavengers.
Mr Salawu further added that since the opening of the dump site, over ten million metric tonne of waste has been dumped so far and with this, Oyo State can take advantage and produce thousands of megawatts of electricity for the good people of the state.
