The immediate past Governor of Osun state and currently minister of interior, Rauf Aregbesola has been described as an uncompromising revolutionary public servant even as he recently celebrated his 64th birthday anniversary.
The Convener, Votas Assembly, Comrade Moshood Erubami stated this at a civic reception organised to celebrate Aregbesola 64th birthday anniversary held at Ilesa, Osun State.
Com Erubami said Aregbesola started to show greater capacity to deliver from State and National assignments when he began as Honourable Commissioner for works in Lagos from 1999-2007 under the Jagaban Borgu, Senator Bola Hammed Tinubu.
“For the eight years as commissioner for works, he was saddled with the task of dismantling the old order structures in Lagos and to lay a solid and enduring foundation for a new Lagos that we all see today and cherich.
He also delivered in all areas of works as a governor in the State of Osun incorruptibly as he performed excellently and made us proud as his Comrades that it was not good to have jettisoned politics so as not to be governed by our inferiors.”
He added that as Governor in the State of Osun, Aregbesola sincerely and comradely put his workers, civil and political, the people of the state of Osun at the heart of government and worked hard to make democracy productively yielding and impactful.
He dislosed that the former Governor worked to ensure that every government policy and his personal decision were made to further the peoples’ interest and lift them from the morass of hopelessness, helplessness, dejection, poverty and ignorance into the cape of peace, security, prosperity and abundant life.
Comrade Erubami commended the minister for vigorously pursued urban renewal and sent flooding packing from that state, rehabilitated hospitals and improved healthcare delivery and health infrastructural facilities for all the people while he also encouraged agriculture, made food to be abundantly available and made farmers to be prosperous.
“As a progressive Marxist Governor in Nigeria, he created tens of thousands of jobs directly and indirectly through O’YES, O’REAP, O’MEALS, OPON IMO, O’AMBULANCE, O’SCHOOL, AGBA OSUN, and other ‘Os’.
Above all, Ogbeni deepened democracy and allowed the opposition a robust room to operate without being vindictive to retaliate all the evil encounters suffered in the hands of the preceding government while in opposition.”
He described former Governor Aregbesola as a SYMBOL of humanistic passion in Nigeria, a workers friendly and most loved democratic governor in Nigeria !
