It was fun fair as football lovers and stars from all walks of life gathered at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium formerly known as Liberty Stadium for the grand finale of Sunday Dare football competition.
In attendance at the event was the former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the sponsor of the tournament who is the Honourable Minister for Youths and Sports in Nigeria, Mr Sunday Dare, Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Oyo state, Seun Fakorede, National President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Prince Chris Isiguzo, Super Eagles assistant coach, Joseph Yobo; former Nigeria footballers, Daniel Amokachi (The Bull), Uche Okechukwu, former super eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde among others.
In an interview with the NUJ National president, Chris Isiguzo he comended the state council football team for their determination and resilience in the face of stiff competition.
The Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi in his speech, appreciate the good effort of Mr Sunday Dare of initiating such tournament in the state.
While acknowledging the presence of the former international players and other dignitaries, Abiola Ajimobi appraised the Minister, commended the President for appointing such an outstanding administrator from pace setter state.
In an interview with the minister,Sunday Dare promised more of sporting activities in the coming weeks, months and years.
The event also featured presentation of gifts to the players and awards to the best goalkeeper, highest goal scorer, most valuable player, among others.
The first runner-up team, Ibarapa fc, was awarded with a trophy, a cash prize of fifty thousand naira. Also, the Ogo Oluwa team, being the winner was awarded trophy, a wrapped new set of Jersey and a cash prize of one hundred thousand naira.
