As Muslim faithful across the globe commenced the month-long Ramadan fast, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Oyo State Chapter wishes Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria and the world over, a successful Ramadan fast.
Prince Aleshinloye said fasting is not just merely meant to stay hungry or thirsty, but an opportunity to strive for inner purification, dedication and self-accountability.
In a statement signed, he said “It is meant to inculcate righteousness and discipline,”
He enjoined fasting Muslims to increase their love for humanity, acts of charity, kindness, generosity and gratitude.
“I call on all our people and in particular our Muslim brethren to avail ourselves of the training and serenity that Ramadan provides; to cleanse our hearts and enrich our souls. This is a time to rededicate ourselves to the good of humanity, the development and progress of our dear State, and our great country, Nigeria,” the chairman said
According to the chairman, “This year’s Ramadan provides us with a special opportunity to connect with the Almighty Allah and seek his face as we contain the Corona Virus pandemic which is ravaging the world.
Let us use this Ramadan period to seek Allah’s forgiveness to make the pandemic a thing of the past.”
