The Inspector General of Police AIG, Zone XI comprising Ondo, Osun and Oyo State, Bashiru Makama has called for collective community policing in all the 33 Local Government and 35 Local Council Development Areas, to enable the police provide adequate security for citizens in the state.
The call was made by AIG Makama on monday during his official Tour of Formation to the State police headquarter Eleyele Ibadan.
He urged the traditional rulers, community leaders and every member of the community to support the police for effective community policing.
“Community Policing is meant to be a collective responsibility of the people and the police in providing effective security for the people. security is every one business but self safety is more important.”
In his address, the commissioner of police Shina Olukolu lauded the present administration and the people of oyo state for their unflinching support and commitment to our noble cause
He added that present administration has graciously re-launched the swift response Squad(SRS) an Operational Outfit with the state of Art communication equipments
The police boss said while delivering his address that, in order to ensure collective sustenance of public peace, protection of lives and property, collaborative effort to ensure security service becomes inevitable
Cp Olukolu appealed to the community leaders to talk to those at the grassroots level to discourage the act of allowing an unknown person without proper identification move about in their environment for security reasons.
