After protracted crisis between the Oyo State governent and Osun state government over the ownership of Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology, Ogbomoso, The National Universities Commission has transferred ownership of LAUTECH Ogbomoso to the Oyo State Government while the Osun state Government is to take over the College of Health Sciences in Osogbo.
The resolution followed the lingering ownership of LAUTECH over the years.
The interference of NUC into the matter became neccesary because while Oyo State is ready to completely take over the university, Osun seems not disposed to that and the two states are not in favour of the Federal Government taking over the ownership of the school as being suggested in some quarters.
The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission Professor
Abubakar Rasheed stated at a media briefing in Abuja that Oyo State is now the owner of the University.
Professor Rasheed said both Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and
Adegboyega Oyetola signed a memorandum of Agreement to the development.
The NUC boss expressed optimism that the new arrangement would restore
peace to LAUTECH.
