. The Oyo State police Command in has issued warning to residents not to violate any of the precautionary measures put in place by the state government to curb the spread of the raging COVID 19 pandemic.
The state police command made stated this in a statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officers (PPRO), SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Ibadan.
“The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Shina Tairu Olukolu, had
observed with dismay, the lackadaisical attitudes of some members of the
public to compliance with different measures introduced by the state government to combat COVID 19. Despite several warnings some people still continued to treat those measures with disrespect and low level of compliance.
The command which listed some of the measures to include wearing of facemasks, washing of hands with soaps and running water, and the lawful proclamation of dusk to dawn curfew from 8p.m. to 5a.m. imposed by the Oyo State Government on the residents.
“The Commissioner of Police wishes to remind all and sundry that the
pandemic is real. It is no respecter of persons, status, age, office or religion.
“It is, therefore, part of our civic responsibilities as citizens to comply with the
laws of the land as none of us is bigger than the law. In fact, the law is no
respecter of any person.
“Consequently, this medium is for the umpteenth time being utilised to warn
members of the public without exceptions, except those initially exempted for
being on essential services.
`The Oyo State Police Command will continue an aggressive enforcement of all
the measures put in place to combat the spread and defeat the Coronavirus
pandemic in Oyo State.
“Hence, the dusk to dawn curfew from 8p.m. to 5a.m., especially, in Oyo State,
will be vigorously enforced and all are, therefore, enjoined to comply in their
own interests without waiting for any form of minimum force,’’ Fadeyi said.
He advised the citizens to refrain from seeking undue concessions or influence
peddling to seek special favours from the leadership of the security agencies.
