Story by Temiloluwa Oyeniyi

The people of Ibadan trooped out in multiples on Thursday, the boxing day and converged at the roundabout of the Oyo State Secretariat to celebrate their boxing day.

It would be recalled that as part of the activities of the Oyo State Government to add glamour and colour to Ibadan, the state capital, Engr. Seyi Makinde earlier this month decorated major areas in Ibadan as part of Christmas celebration which is the first of its kind in the state.

Some of the people who spoke with Temiloluwa Oyeniyi commended the efforts of the government towards beautifying the city and also advised that government should ensure continuity.

In a chat with our reporter, an aged man named Mr. Ola who is in his early 70s brought his wife to the location to spend more time with her in in order to enjoy the celebration eulogies the quality leadership of the governor.

“I was looking for where to take my family to and I thought this location would be the best place. I am sure my family is happy with the plan because the decoration makes it look as if we are not in Nigeria.”

Also, while speaking with Nigerian Alert, Mr. Celestine Oluoh said it is a great development that is worth appreciating. According to him, he was just passing by one evening and he found out that the environment is conducive and accommodating.

“I work here in Ibadan and I couldn’t travel to my town to celebrate the festival, so I instead invited my family to come down to Ibadan to celebrate and have fun.” Mr. Oluoh said.

While commending Engr. Seyi Makinde for the great initiative, Com. Moyosore said the governor is a good leader who has the welfare and happiness of the people at heart.

According to him, people irrespective of their status stopped by at the place to just have fun with orderliness without requesting for gate fee.

Other people who spoke with our reporter applauded the creative development orchestrated by the Oyo State government and they also encouraged them to do more.
