Why We Terminated NPA Contract with Atiku’s Company – FG

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), through its managing director, Hadiza Bala Usman, has refuted claims that the body's termination of the boats pilotage monitoring and supervision agreement with the oil and gas logistics company, Intels Nigeria Limited, was politically motivated.

The NPA boss, Aisha Bala Usman, explained that the contract was terminated following alleged failure of Intels (belonging to former President Atiku Abubakar) to remit $145,849,309.33 into the account of the federal government account.

She pointed out that the said sum was the outstanding service boat revenue generated from November, 2017 to October, 2018.

In her explanation, Usman further said: “The policy is not politically motivated. When you start implementing policy, people take positions. The contract was terminated after the elections”.

Intels is a leading integrated logistics and facilities services provider in the maritime and oil and gas logistics sectors of the economy.
