The Honourable Commissioner of Health in Oyo State, Dr. Azeez Popoola Adeduntan, accompanied by the Chairman, Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Goke Adeyemo, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Olayemisi Iyiola and other officials of the ministry and hospital management board, recently paid an unscheduled visit to the State Hospital, Ring road, Ibadan.

The visit was a fall-out of the uproar generated by the death of an Ibadan-based radio presenter, Femi Oluwajobi, who was reportedly rushed to the hospital on the night of December 31, 2017, but later referred to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, where he eventually passed on.

It was not the first time the Honourable Commissioner will be visiting the hospital as Dr. Adeduntan had visited the hospital many times since he took charge of the health ministry to assess the state of equipment and personnel at the hospital in order to take steps to improve the state of healthcare delivery in the state.

However, this recent visit provided the honourable Commissioner and his entourage the opportunity to reassess some of the already identified areas of need in the hospital with respect to the N50 Billion Health Care Endowment Fund, launched on August 3, 2017 to revitalize the State Hospital @ Ring road and other health care facilities.

Donations were received into the endowment fund bank accounts and more donations are still coming in.

In December, 2017, the Board of Trustee of the N50 Billion Healthcare Endowment Fund was inaugurated.
